Budget Bridge Challenge: Build the Strongest Bridge

Join our own robotics team in learning some STEM! Participants will work in teams to design and build a bridge using a limited “engineering budget” and a selection of materials with assigned costs. The goal is to create a bridge that can hold the most weight while staying within budget and meeting design requirements. Each team will receive a fictional $500 budget to “purchase” materials such as popsicle sticks, cardboard, tape, string, straws, and more. Bridges must be at least 1 foot long and 4 inches high. At the end, all bridges will be tested to see which design can hold the most weight. This hands-on STEM activity encourages creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and engineering thinking in a fun and competitive environment. This program is for rising grades 6-12. Registration is required as space is limited.
